For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

2014 Men's Lectureship

Matthew 5:14-16    14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus commissioned His followers to be the very light that will shine for others. The Diane Avenue Church of Christ has an unprecedented opportunity to reach out to the community and beyond with a real message of hope. As a church we have been blessed with unbelievable resources and awesome servant-minded Christians that believe that meeting the needs of others comes before self.  We believe that for the love of Christ to be fully understood, it first must be shared - here, and around the world. As ambassadors for Christ we reach out locally, we care for the community by participating in the Food Bank distribution program.  Serving others is our greatest joy, and we believe there is no higher calling. We invite you to join us on this amazing journey, as we see the world - through the eyes of Jesus.  This ministry plans and oversees VBS during the school summer vacation. The plans for the theme, learning centers, time, and teacher requirements are done several months in advance.  Planning, coordination, budget, materials, advertising and follow-up are all involved in this ministry.  Some of our activities include:

  • A resource center for food and clothing needs.
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Educating families in areas of the gospel, parenting, nutrition, health care, and finances.
  • Youth training for social and employment needs.
  • Supervised youth activities, including late nights on weekends.
  • Community recreation and fellowship: special meals, singing gatherings, >games, etc.
  • A library containing Christian reading materials, references, bibles, general information.
  • A gathering place for groups; i.e. Lady Lectureship, Revival/Gospel Meetings, Youth Ministries Meetings, Friends and Family Nights.
  • In addition to our existing worship building, this building should serve as a place for outside programs such as Food Banks, Red Cross and others that offer services that would benefit the people of this community.
